Cookie Policy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how BoardroomUK uses cookies and similar technologies on boardroomuk.com. It describes what each cookie does, how long it lasts and how you can control your choices.

We keep our use of cookies to a minimum. Our website does not use Google Analytics or advertising pixels by default, and the cookies we do use are mainly needed to run the shopping cart, keep logged-in users secure and remember your consent choices. This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your computer, phone or tablet when you visit. They allow the website to recognise your device and remember information, such as the contents of your basket or whether you are logged in.

1.1 First-party and third-party cookies

First-party cookies are set by the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies are set by a different domain, usually because the website includes content or tools provided by another organisation. The cookies listed in this policy are set on our own domain, although some are created by software provided by third parties, such as our e-commerce, security and consent tools.

1.2 Session and persistent cookies

Session cookies are temporary and are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.

1.3 Similar technologies

Websites can also store information using technologies such as local storage in your browser. These work in a similar way to cookies, and the same rules apply to them. We describe the local storage we use in section 4.

2. The law on cookies

The use of cookies in the UK is governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), as amended, together with UK GDPR where cookies involve personal data. Under PECR, we must tell you clearly what cookies we use and why, and we must obtain your consent before placing cookies on your device unless they are strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested or fall within one of the limited exceptions added by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, such as certain analytics or website-appearance cookies where you are given a simple, free way to object.

Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent. As a matter of policy, we ask for your consent before setting any functional, analytics or marketing cookies, which you can give or refuse through our cookie banner.

3. Categories of cookies

Category What it does Consent required? Used on our site?
Strictly necessary Essential for the website to work, such as remembering your basket, keeping you logged in, protecting the site and recording your cookie choices No Yes
Functional Remember preferences to give you a more personalised experience, such as interface settings Yes, unless strictly necessary for a feature you request Limited (see section 4)
Analytics Help us understand how visitors use the website so we can improve it Yes No, not by default
Marketing Track visitors across websites to show relevant advertising or measure campaigns Yes No, not by default

3.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies allow core features of our website to work. Without them, services you have asked for, such as adding services to your basket, checking out, logging in or saving your cookie preferences, could not be provided.

3.2 Functional cookies

These cookies and storage items remember choices you make so the website works the way you prefer. Some are used only by people who log in to our website, such as administrators and account holders.

3.3 Analytics cookies

We do not currently use analytics cookies. If we decide to add an analytics tool in future, it will only run after you have given consent through our cookie banner, and we will update this policy beforehand to describe the cookies concerned.

3.4 Marketing cookies

We do not currently use marketing or advertising cookies, and we do not install advertising pixels by default. If this changes, these cookies will only be set with your consent, and we will update this policy first.

4. Cookies we use

The exact names of some cookies may vary slightly between software versions. We review this list regularly and will update it if the cookies on our website change.

4.1 Cookies for visitors who do not log in

If you browse our website without adding anything to your basket or logging in, the only cookie we normally set is the cookieyes-consent cookie, which records your consent status and choices, together with any interface preferences stored in your browser. WooCommerce cookies are set when you add services to your basket or start an order. WordPress and Wordfence login cookies are set only when you log in.

4.2 Our SEO plugin

We use Yoast SEO to help search engines understand our pages. It adds information to the code of our pages but does not set cookies on visitors’ devices.

4.3 Security processing

Our security plugins, Wordfence and WP Hide & Security Enhancer, protect our website against attacks. Apart from the wfwaf-authcookie described above, which is set only for logged-in users, Wordfence processes visitors’ IP addresses and request details to operate the firewall and block malicious traffic. This processing is explained in our Privacy Policy.

5. How to manage cookies

5.1 Using our cookie banner

When you first visit our website, our CookieYes banner asks for your cookie preferences. You can accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies or choose by category. Strictly necessary cookies are always active because the website cannot work properly without them.

You can change your mind at any time by clicking the “Cookie Settings” link provided by our CookieYes consent tool, which is available on every page of our website. This reopens the consent panel so that you can update your choices. Withdrawing consent stops optional cookies from being set in future; you can delete existing cookies using your browser settings.

5.2 Using your browser settings

Most web browsers let you view, manage and delete cookies and to block cookies from some or all websites. You can usually find these options in the “Settings”, “Preferences” or “Privacy” menu of your browser. Your browser’s help pages will explain how to:

  • see which cookies are stored and delete them individually or all at once;
  • block third-party cookies;
  • block all cookies from particular websites;
  • block all cookies;
  • delete all cookies and site data when you close the browser;
  • clear local storage and other site data.

If you block all cookies, including strictly necessary ones, some parts of our website will not work. In particular, you may be unable to add services to your basket, check out or log in to your account.

Tip: If you only want to clear cookies for our website, look for the option to manage site data in your browser and search for boardroomuk.com. This avoids logging you out of other websites.

5.3 Mobile devices

On mobile devices, you can manage cookies and site data through the settings for your browser app. Some devices also provide privacy controls in the device’s main settings.

5.4 Further information

The Information Commission (ICO) provides guidance for the public on cookies and how to control them at ico.org.uk.

6. Third-party content and links

Our website may link to other websites, such as government or regulatory sites. When you follow a link, those websites may set their own cookies, which are governed by their own cookie and privacy policies. We do not control those cookies.

We do not currently embed third-party content, such as videos or social media feeds, that sets cookies. If we add embedded content that sets non-essential cookies, it will be blocked until you consent, and we will update this policy.

7. Personal data collected through cookies

Some cookies, such as login cookies and WooCommerce session cookies, are linked to personal data, for example your account or the contents of your order. We process this information in line with our Privacy Policy, which explains our lawful bases, how long we keep data and your rights, including how to complain to the ICO.

8. How long your consent lasts

Your cookie choices are stored in the cookieyes-consent cookie for 12 months. After that, or if you clear your cookies, our banner will ask you again. We will also ask you again if we add new categories of cookies that require consent, so that your earlier choice is not treated as consent to something you were not told about.

If you use more than one browser or device, you will need to set your preferences on each one, because cookies are stored separately in each browser.

9. Updates to this policy

We will update this Cookie Policy when we add, remove or change cookies on our website, or when the law or regulatory guidance changes. Before introducing any analytics or marketing cookies, we will update this policy and our cookie banner so that you can make an informed choice. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last revised. Where changes are significant, we may ask you to review your cookie choices again.
